Japan Festival
Apr 28 - Apr 29
What is Japan Festival? In 2012, the first Japan Festival Boston was hosted, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the friendship gift of cherry blossom trees from Kyoto (the sister city of Boston) to Washington D.C. The Japan Festival Boston gives us a chance to share our culture with the Greater Boston area, and we have been expanding this festival each year. The festival is completely organized by Volunteers (more than 380 volunteers in 2017), and supported by many sponsors and contributors of fundraising.

Phantasmagoria
at Museum of Fine Arts through May 28
"What did people do for spooky entertainment before the invention of the cinema? In the decades just after 1800, audiences throughout Europe and the Americas flocked to a ghoulish spectacle known as the Phantasmagoria, where they were transfixed by the illusion of brooding demons, hovering spirits, and all manner of strange and creepy beings advancing toward them in the dark." Inventur - Art In germany
at Harvard Art Museums through Jun 3
"The first exhibition of its kind, Inventur examines the highly charged artistic landscape in Germany from the mid-1940s to mid-1950s. Taking its name from a 1945 poem by Günter Eich, the exhibition focuses on modern art created at a time when Germans were forced to acknowledge and reckon with the atrocities of World War II and the Holocaust, the country’s defeat and occupation by the Allies, and the ideological ramifications of the fledgling Cold War" (MFA Website)

The Last Act
May 18 - Jun 1
“Theatre should be dangerous, or else it should not be!” snarls Gilly. This fiery, sexy drama portrays the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with a play on Strindberg’s Miss Julie. Relentless and demanding, pulsing with passion and power and deception and sensuality, this intensely potent combination of Israeli culture, political firestorm, and human emotion represents the best theatre can offer.

Top Girls
Apr 20 - May 20
"Career-driven Marlene has just landed the top job at a London employment agency over a male colleague. To celebrate, she hosts a lavish dinner with a group of famous and adventurous historical women who cheer the successes and bemoan the sacrifices required to be a “top girl” in a man’s world. Caryl Churchill’s groundbreaking masterpiece, originally a rebuke of Margaret Thatcher’s England in the 1980s, remains just as relevant and powerful today." (Huntington Theatre website)
